Saffron Extract is an organic compound isolated from saffron.Saffron Extract contains carotene compounds, mainly C16H26O7, C44H64O26·H2O, crocin-1-4，picrocrocin，crocetin dimethyl ester，a-crocetin and va-crocetin.It is believed that safranal is a degradation product of the carotenoid zeaxanthin via the intermediacy of picrocrocin.Saffron Extract is an effective anticonvulsant shown to act as an agonist at GABAA receptors. Saffron Extract also exhibits high antioxidant and free radical scavenging activity, along with cytotoxicity towards cancer cells in vitro. It has also been shown to have antidepressant properties.

Saffron Extract has the following effects:

• Saffron Extract can reduce the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, reduce cholesterol, and promote fat metabolism, so as to achieve the effect of lowering blood lipids;
• Saffron Extract has an inhibitory effect on oxygen free radicals, thereby achieving an antioxidant effect;
• It  also stimulates the uterus, activates blood and stops bleeding, resists nephritis, and promotes retinal arterial blood flow;
• It can effectively prevent and treat cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and has good anticancer activity.
